The OG40 is a compact 40% keyboard designed by Cosmos Design, inspired by Cherry's iconic G80 series. Rather than being a direct replica, it serves as a modern reinterpretation that pays homage to the design aesthetics of keyboards from the 1980s to early 1990s. The OG40 features a unique layout that includes support for a Big Ass Enter (BAE) key and a 10U spacebar, diverging from traditional 40% keyboard designs to enhance usability and visual appeal. The layout is fixed at 14U, offering both 13-column and 14-column configurations to accommodate various keycap sets, ensuring compatibility with standard base kits and retro options.
