The R2 Fossil Full Size Keyboard, along with its Southpaw variant, is a premium mechanical keyboard designed and manufactured in the USA. It features a grommet mount design and offers a choice between solder or hotswap PCBs, both compatible with VIA software for customization. The keyboard has a 7-degree tilt and a front height of 17.5mm, weighing approximately 2.44 kg (5.6 lb).

Available in various colors, including Grey, Sand, Mongoose, Pegasus, and Northern Lights, the keyboard also allows for personalized weight options themed after dinosaurs, such as Carnivore (T-rex) and Herbivore (Brontosaurus). The kit includes an aluminum full plate, with options for half aluminum, FR4, or carbon fiber plates available at additional costs. 

Customers can expect a custom carrying case for the first 100 orders, and there are various add-ons like extra PCBs, weight bluing, and screws available for purchase. The pre-order period is set for August 25 to September 8, 2025, with a turnaround time of about six months.
