The 618 keyboard by Zepsody, previously known as "Longhorn," is a custom-designed 1800 layout keyboard that aims to provide an ideal daily driver experience. The design process began in 2021 and has evolved significantly, culminating in a final prototype ready for feedback. Named after the TON 618 black hole, this keyboard features an 8-degree typing angle, a Mechlovin PCB compatible with QMK and VIA, and options for hotswap or solderable configurations. It supports MX and Alps switches and is constructed from durable 6063 aluminum. Additional features include a centered USB-C universal daughterboard, LED indicator lights with an acrylic diffuser, and a poron gasket mount with silicone side gaskets for stability. The keyboard has a prototype weight of approximately 10.6 lbs (4.7 kg) when fully assembled. The design is still open for feedback as the creator prepares for the next round of prototypes.
